ASPCA Grant Awarded to Skywatch Bird Rescue

A Chance to Soar Once More! SkyWatch Bird Rescue has been awarded a $6,000 grant from the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) to help care for and rehabilitate nearly 150 neglected Muscovy Ducks from the largest animal hoarding case New Hanover County has ever encountered. Sheltering, medically treating and housing this many ducks on behalf of Animal Control has cost SkyWatch thousands of dollars in food, bedding, and medication that otherwise would have gone toward helping care for our resident flock and rescued wild birds. Thanks to the ASPCA, SkyWatch can continue to provide safe, comfortable housing for these ducks and replenish the medications that were drained. Small local nonprofits like us could not weather storm after storm without the generosity of proactive organizations like the ASPCA that fights year round to end animal homelessness and cruelty. THANK YOU ASPCA for all your help!
