Cape Fear Audubon to host Discover the Wonders of Birds Event at Airlie Gardens on February 7th
Hands-on innovative learning experience for adults and children
Cape Fear Audubon Society (CFAS) invites the community to its Discover the Wonders of Birds event on February 7 at Airlie Gardens from 1 to 4 p.m. Explore the world of birds at this innovative, hands-on learning experience co-sponsored by Airlie Gardens. Several interactive learning centers focus on different topics relating to birds, encouraging interactive participation. The event also features a shade-grown coffee station, a bird walk and special guest appearances from live birds courtesy of Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter, Cape Fear Raptor Center and Skywatch Bird Rescue.
CFAS, a non-profit chapter affiliate of the National Audubon, developed this educational tool for learning all aspects of birds. The goal is to engage adults and children in exploratory investigations with knowledgeable Audubon personnel available to answer questions.
Interactive, hands-on learning centers help participants investigate:
- How do birds fly?
- Where, when and why do birds migrate?
- What ways do birds use feathers?
- What can you do to help birds?
- How do native plants benefit birds?
- What is inside an owl pellet?
- How does climate change affect birds?
