We gave Sanctuary to another 36 Factory chickens today who were used for testing by an agricultural lab, testing poultry feed in Georgia. They are able to walk around without being squeezed tightly against each other for the first time today. They will now be enjoying sunshine, grass and lots of space for the first time in their lives. These chickens are called "broilers" being inbred for hundreds of generations their purpose as factory-farmed animals is to end up in the meat industry, so they grow abominably large very quickly and are not like normal chickens. Donations needed! ...
Our little least bittern will be released soon. This is his " I'm really big and scary, so don't come near me or I'll kill you!" pose. ...
Please share. We are still recruiting for Summer baby bird feeders. Feeding baby birds at the rescue is a 12-week commitment and you can work as little as one 3 hour shift per week (two or more shifts is recommended if you want to work with highly specialized species). We are looking for people to start May 15th, as well as June 1st & July 1st (ending 12 weeks later). A training class is provided. Baby feeders must be able to stand for at least 3 hours, have a steady hand and normal eyesight. Attention to detail is a plus. The work is very important and very rewarding as you get to raise them and then watch them be released. Please consider joining the team for the summer. Anyone interested can fill out a volunteer form on our website. Thank you. Serious commitments only plz (once you get on board you have to stay with the program for 12 weeks) ...

Well I guess it's safe to say that baby bird season has officially started. Although we have been receiving several mourning doves which are usually the early arrivals, first of the season but not any real tiny song birds just yet. Now they are starting to come in. We still need lots of baby bird feeders this summer to join our team. If you can commit 4 hours a week for 12 weeks this summer, please consider becoming a baby bird feeder, it is just a 12 week commitment. We need lots of helpers since we raise hundreds of baby birds in the summer and it takes a village! Looking for people that are reliable and committed, and will stick with it for 12 weeks. If you're interested fill out a volunteer form on our website for more information, thank you. We can also use donations and supplies to get ready, the summer brings a huge wave of baby birds that are orphaned, it is an enormous task to raise all of them for 3 months. We can use all the help we can get, please donate and check out our Amazon wish list online for supplies we can use. Please share !
We get many interesting and unique Birds during the summer that require Specialized Care. Right now we can use some supplies. We are in need of things like: dry cat food, wet cat food, white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, bleach, laundry soap, dried mealworms, heat lamps and heating pads ( the type that does not shut off but stays on all night long) and as always lots of fish please check out her Amazon wish list as well online. Thank you so much for the support! ...
