This poor Pelican looked like a Christmas tree with all the tackle and lures and hooks she had in her upon arrival. She had line wrapped around her whole body and 4 regular hooks stabbing her, along with a trebble hook as well. She is extremely exhausted and dehydrated. Big thanks to Beach Rangers Shannon and Scott for taking time out of their day to deliver her to the rescue for care and a chance at recovery. ... See MoreSee Less

When people see an injured wild bird many say something like; can we call "someone"? Who is that "someone"? People like YOU. Our volunteers are regular members of the community with can-do attitudes who want to help animals in need. Our rescue volunteers don't have special skills or extensive training, they are just normal people with kids and jobs, that help out once a week or go on rescues (guiding and information provided) here and there when a bird is in need and a citizen can't or won't deliver it. Here is volunteer Patty walking into a marshy reed area to grab a Goose that was down for several days, because both his feet were shackled together by fishing line. The line has cut off circulation from his feet, and one foot especially is just enormously swollen and very painful. Without the can-do attitudes of the volunteers who are not afraid to get dirty to help an animal, hundreds upon hundreds of birds in our local area would otherwise suffer slowly each year, and die miserable and slow deaths, if it wasn't for people like this. If you are that type of person, not afraid to roll up your sleeves to save an animal in need, please consider joining our team, we need you! We need more first responders like this. If u have physical limitations we also need wildlife "Ubers" who go pick up birds already contained, and give them a ride to the rescue clinic If you are interested in putting your name down for a specific area, or time slot each week u can rescue birds too IF there are any in need during your designated time frame or selected area. Pm us if interested. We need more go-getters for the animals! Put your love of nature to work and make a direct and impactful difference for the local Avian wildlife in need of protection.Big thanks to ALL the volunteers who were involved in this capture! The Goose is now finally enjoying relief from pain and entrapment. ... See MoreSee Less
